You don’t need to worry about the collection day for waste when using underground waste containers. Waste collectors empty these as needed.

  • Underground waste containers require an electronic key fob to open the chute doors.
  • The key fob comes with the residence (house or apartment). You get this from the previous owner, landlord or Avfall Sør when you move in and/or take over the home.
  • Underground waste containers are reserved for the residents in that area, and should not be used by others.

Avoid littering! Waste should not be placed next to the container. If it’s full or not working – please contact Avfall Sør (+47) 38 17 70 70 so that we can fix it. This way, we avoid pollution caused by birds, animals, weather, and wind spreading waste and pollutants.

Good sorting habits start with a good system at home

Bio bags for food waste and plastic packaging sacks are included in the renovation fee for household customers. Here’s how to get new bags or sacks:

Foto av ruller med bioposer.
  • If you have your own waste bins, you can tie a bag for food waste to the bin on the next collection day, and the waste collector will place a new roll on top of the bin on the collection day.
  • If you have shared waste bins or underground containers, bio bags are provided after ordering from the caretaker, chairman of the board, or landlord.

Remember that bio bags are degradable and have a limited shelf life! The biobags are 100% compostable and are a natural part of the composting process together with the biowaste. The bags must break down in between 10-45 days in the composting facility. Bio bags that have been stored for more than a year tend to tear more easily than new ones. The bags are marked with the production date (week number and year). If the biobags tear during use, they should be replaced by new bags. Store the bio bags in a dark place, then they will last longer.
