Do you live in housing with underground waste containers?
You don’t need to worry about the collection day for waste when using underground waste containers. Waste collectors empty these as needed.
- Underground waste containers that belong to SiA student housing units are reserved for SiA residents and should not be used by others.
- Other underground waste containers require an electronic key fob to open the chute doors. You can obtain the key fob from the landlord or Avfall Sør when you move in and/or take over the residence.
AVOID LITTERING! Waste should not be placed next to the container. If it’s full or not working – please contact Avfall Sør (+47) 38 17 70 70 so that we can fix it. This way, we avoid pollution caused by birds, animals, weather, and wind spreading waste and pollutants.
Do you live in housing with waste bins?
To have your waste bins emptied, they must be placed by the roadside or curb no later than 06:00 on the collection day. The arrow on the bins must point towards the road.
- For residual waste and biowaste, you pay per collection.
- For more information about collection days, prices and fees – please contact our customer service centre.
PLEASE NOTE! You can find your collection days by entering your address in the collection calendar – «Tømmekalender». This calendar is only available in Norwegian.

If you are a tenant in private housing, you need to ask the landlord to share access with you.
- Sharing access is done on the customer portal «Min side», and once done, you will receive an SMS that needs to be confirmed.
- Then, you will receive a link to a QR code that can be scanned at the recycling stations.
- Your visits are registered on the landlord’s property.
If you own the residence, you automatically gain access to Min side to retrieve and manage your access ID.

Where should it be sorted?
Sorting waste is important for the environment. Better sorting allows us to recycle more of your waste, creating new products again and again.
If you’re unsure where to dispose of something,
you’ll find the answer on the website sortere.no
PLEASE NOTE! Sortere.no is only available in Norwegian, but you can translate the pages into your language using Google translate.
